The short answer

We found no company-wide, employer-published Vanguard salary range for product managers. Neither of the two current Vanguard product-management listings we reviewed on August 2, 2026 disclosed a base-pay band, bonus target, or total-compensation range.

Third-party sites provide reference points, but not a dependable Vanguard offer range:

  • Levels.fyi displayed total compensation of about $162,000 for TS03 and $189,000 for TS04. The same page showed conflicting median figures of $127,000 and $122,000.
  • Indeed displayed an estimated Philadelphia base salary of $128,487, with a range of $119,493 to $143,905, and labeled the estimate low confidence.

Those figures should not be averaged into a new range. They cover different compensation measures, locations, levels, and data methods. For a specific opening, ask the Vanguard recruiter for the salary band tied to that requisition, level, and work location.

For senior-role searches, Levels.fyi showed about $189,000 in total compensation for TS04. Vanguard does not officially map TS04 to its Senior Specialist title, and we found no verified salary band for a current senior product role.

What Vanguard currently publishes about product roles

We reviewed two current openings on Vanguard's careers site:

Neither listing provided a salary range when reviewed.

These titles help describe role scope, but they do not establish a public compensation ladder. Vanguard's job pages use titles such as Product Manager Specialist and Product Manager, Senior Specialist. Levels.fyi uses codes such as TS03 and TS04. We found no official Vanguard source mapping those systems to one another.

If you are evaluating an offer, ask for the exact internal level and pay band. Do not assume that a generic Senior Product Manager benchmark matches a Vanguard Senior Specialist role.

How to read the third-party salary data

Levels.fyi reports total compensation, with conflicting figures

On August 2, 2026, the Vanguard Product Manager page on Levels.fyi displayed:

Reported level Base Site-labelled "stock" Bonus Total
TS03 $134,000 $5,700 $22,000 About $162,000
TS04 Not fully visible in the public table Not fully visible Not fully visible About $189,000

The page's introductory text reported a $127,000 median total-compensation package, while its FAQ reported a $122,000 median. It also listed a highest reported package of $188,500.

That disagreement matters. It may reflect different records, refresh schedules, or calculations. Treat each amount as a third-party snapshot, not a verified Vanguard pay band.

The page also labels part of compensation as stock and describes a vesting schedule. Vanguard's official ownership explanation says Vanguard is owned by its member funds, which are owned by fund shareholders, and that it has no public shareholders. The official job and benefits pages reviewed here do not confirm a standard equity grant for product managers.

That does not prove that every possible long-term incentive is absent. It means the Levels.fyi label should not be treated as an official Vanguard benefit without confirmation. If an offer includes equity, stock, deferred compensation, or a long-term award, ask the recruiter to identify the actual plan and payment terms.

Indeed is a low-confidence, location-specific base-pay estimate

Indeed's page is narrower: it estimates base pay for a Product Manager in Philadelphia, not nationwide total compensation.

On August 2, 2026, Indeed displayed an estimated average of $128,487, with a range of $119,493 to $143,905. It labeled the estimate low confidence and says salary figures are approximations that may not be endorsed by the employer.

The figure is not employer-published, and the scope is Philadelphia base pay rather than nationwide total compensation. Indeed's own caveat is why this estimate should be treated as a rough reference rather than a Vanguard band.

Base salary and total compensation are not interchangeable

Before comparing two numbers, identify what each includes:

  • Base salary is fixed annual cash pay.
  • Performance bonus is variable cash and may depend on individual or company results.
  • Partnership Plan award is an annual cash award that Vanguard describes as tied to client outcomes and collective company performance.
  • Retirement contributions add economic value but are not take-home salary.
  • Equity or long-term incentives should be included only when the offer documents confirm that they exist.
  • Sign-on or relocation payments are one-time amounts, if offered.

For an offer comparison, start with base salary. Add only the bonus and Partnership assumptions that the recruiter or offer documents confirm. Then assess retirement contributions and other benefits separately. Do not insert a guessed bonus percentage or an unverified stock value.

Official Vanguard benefits that affect the offer

Vanguard's current Benefits & Rewards page provides several concrete details for U.S. crew:

  • The Partnership Plan is an annual cash award tied to client outcomes and collective company performance.
  • Vanguard describes opportunities for performance bonuses, merit-based salary increases, and monetary recognition awards.
  • Vanguard says it matches employee 401(k) contributions dollar for dollar on the first 4% contributed.
  • It also says it contributes 10% of salary to the 401(k), regardless of the employee's contribution.

Vanguard does not publish a target Partnership percentage for product managers on that page. It would be misleading to assume that the award is a fixed percentage of base salary.

Benefits can materially affect an offer, but eligibility, vesting, plan limits, and tax treatment matter. Confirm those details in the plan documents rather than relying only on the careers-page summary.

What can change a product-manager offer

The current listings show meaningful differences in scope. The Platform Modernization role covers complex digital platforms, retirement-business capabilities, and cross-functional leadership. The AI/ML Senior Specialist role signals a more specialized product area.

That does not let us calculate a salary premium. It shows why one generic Vanguard Product Manager average may not fit every opening.

When comparing an offer with outside data, match as many factors as possible:

  • Exact title and internal level
  • Base-pay location
  • Specialist versus Senior Specialist scope
  • Required years and relevance of experience
  • Platform, financial-services, data, or AI/ML expertise
  • Individual-contributor versus team-lead expectations
  • Base salary versus total cash compensation

Questions to ask the recruiter

Use the conversation to replace uncertain public estimates with offer-specific facts:

  1. What is the current base-salary band for this requisition and work location?
  2. What internal job family and level does the role use?
  3. Where does the proposed base salary sit within that band?
  4. Is there a target performance bonus? If so, what determines the payout?
  5. Is this role eligible for the Partnership Plan, and how is the award determined?
  6. Are the performance bonus and Partnership award separate components?
  7. Does the offer include any long-term incentive? If yes, what is the actual plan?
  8. Which compensation elements are recurring, and which are one-time?
  9. Do location or hybrid-work arrangements affect the salary band?
  10. When do the 401(k) match and additional employer contribution begin, and what vesting rules apply?
  11. What outcomes would support progression to the next internal level?

If the recruiter cannot share the full band, ask for the midpoint or expected range for qualified candidates. When negotiating, anchor the discussion to the role's scope, location, and your relevant results rather than presenting a third-party estimate as official Vanguard data.

Methodology and limitations

Reviewed August 2, 2026.

This independent guide prioritizes Vanguard's current careers, benefits, and corporate ownership pages. Levels.fyi and Indeed are included only as clearly labeled third-party snapshots.

We also checked the U.S. Department of Labor's LCA disclosure files for FY2023 Q4, FY2024 Q4, FY2025 Q4, and the available FY2026 Q2 data. After normalizing Vanguard employer-name variants, we found no exact job-title matches for Product Manager or Senior Product Manager. An LCA wage would describe a specific employer-submitted visa case, not a company-wide salary band.

We did not combine their figures because Levels.fyi reports total compensation while Indeed estimates location-specific base pay. Levels.fyi's median figures conflicted, while Indeed's estimate may refresh over time. We found no current employer-published salary range for the reviewed Vanguard product-manager openings.

Job listings can close, benefit terms can change, and third-party estimates can refresh without notice. Check the linked sources and current offer documents before making a compensation decision. NextSprints is not affiliated with Vanguard.
