FAQs
Find answers to common questions about this course and preparing for Cursor-focused product interviews.
-
There is no public APM or new-grad PM programme. Most PM roles ask for prior product or engineering experience. Students interested in Cursor often start as software engineers, product engineers or in technical roles at other AI companies, then move into product.
-
It is not formally required, but it helps a lot. Cursor PMs work closely with engineers and researchers on agents and models, and interviewers reportedly probe technical understanding. Candidates without a CS degree should show strong technical projects.
-
Press reports say Cursor does not allow candidates to use AI during interviews, even though the company builds an AI coding tool. The goal is to see how you think. Prepare to reason without assistance.
-
Expect cases tied to Cursor's products: improving Bugbot, measuring Composer 2, diagnosing churn after a pricing change, or deciding enterprise strategy against GitHub Copilot. Generic consumer cases are less common.
-
It is still early. Reports suggest Cursor continues to hire across product and engineering, with more compute available and equity paid in SpaceX stock. Ask recruiters about reporting lines and team structure.
