FAQs
Find answers to common questions about this course and preparing for Linear-focused product interviews.
-
No. As of 2026 Linear does not run an APM, rotational, or new-grad PM program, and its PM postings ask for several years of software experience. Students should treat Linear as a medium-term goal: build experience at a fast-moving startup, or join Linear in an adjacent role such as customer experience, solutions engineering, design, or engineering, where product judgment is valued.
-
After team interviews, finalists are invited to a paid work trial of roughly two to five days. Candidates get access to Linear's Slack, Figma, and Linear workspace and work on a scoped project, often around 3.5 days of work. For PM candidates this can mean writing a project spec, analyzing customer feedback, and planning a launch. Team members give feedback independently before the hiring manager decides.
-
Candidates generally report three to six weeks from first conversation to decision; the work trial adds scheduling time for those who are employed.
-
Coding is not tested, but you need to understand engineering workflows well: branches, pull requests, code review, sprints, and incidents. Familiarity with AI coding agents and how they plug into issue trackers is increasingly important.
-
Candidates who stand out write clearly, show taste with specific examples, and frame problems from real customer evidence. Honest familiarity with Linear, including what you would change and why, is a strong signal.
